If you're feeling overly anxious about your dental treatment, there are a variety of oral sedation medications that can be used to help you relax. The choice rests with the procedure in question, and your level of anxiety.
It is very common to feel nervous or anxious about visiting the dentist, and many patients put off necessary treatment as a result. But dental problems don't get better by being ignored, and if your let the issue progress, it could result in more extensive and invasive treatment down the road.
While we do our best to provide a relaxing and comfortable office environment, some patients just need a little extra help. In these cases, sedation can allow patients to undergo necessary dental care they may otherwise have avoided.
For dentistry performed under oral sedation, Dr. Derek Clease will prescribe an oral sedative medication for you to take half an hour prior to your appointment, so you’ll be feeling relaxed by the time you sit down in the exam room.
Depending on the procedure, we may also give you some at the appointment time.
As always, our compassionate dental team will check in with you to ensure that you’re feeling comfortable during the entire duration of your appointment.
Please Note: You cannot drive yourself to your dental appointment if sedated, so please arrange for someone to pick you up after your appointment. Your safety is our primary concern.
